I am Karen. This is my journal. :)

I'm 29! There's a solid chance that makes me older than you. I don't feel 29 and I don't act 29 so let's not get hung up on the numbers.

I've been on LJ since 2001 with this name. I was at a different space (see user #253134 ex_karinberr48) for many years, then in May 2008 moved to this space as user #15566358 "ashitanokioku." At some point, I started to miss my old name, so I spent some money to re-name this journal, and "ashitanokioku" became karinberry and all was right with my world, again. (except for the part where it now looks like I've only been on LJ for a little more than a year, which is really petty of me, but I am so old school I'm from a time BEFORE invite codes and apparently my closed journal gets perks that I don't get even though I'm still the same person, and I said it was petty so we're moving on, now)

I have fandoms. I'm not active. I like being on the outside. I'm still a fangirl.

I'm a college grad. (B.A. History from California State University Fullerton)
I'm going back to school for more training. (Paralegal certificate from Fullerton College & TESOL certificate from Anaheim University)
I'm unemployed and mostly loving it. (COBRA is not cheap, dammit)
I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

I'm a bookworm. (includes the textbooks I couldn't let go of)
I'm an infant comic geek. (Alan Moore and DC, mostly Batman)
I'm a wannabe video game geek. (I love to play but can't afford the habit)
I'm a Netflix junkie. (as of this edit, my queue is around 400)
So basically I'm a geek.

I LOVE MUSIC.
Mostly rock and mostly english, but when it comes down to it, if it's not rap or country (two cultures I just can't relate with), I could potentially enjoy it, regardless of whether I do or do not speak the same language as the vocalist. (Japanese pop and rock are the obvious examples for this, though lately I speak some Japanese)
This is really important. There won't be a quiz, but seriously, music means a lot to me. I have no talent, education, or training. I don't claim to have the best taste. I'm shameless about my love for "guilty pleasure" artists. (Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, mostly)

I abuse parentheses.

I really hate those profiles with 6.02 x 10²³ banners, gifs, colorbars, quiz results, claims, and otherwise large, blinky, glittery, and/or seizure-inducing graphics. I've made it a point not to do that sort of thing here, but this is just too cute.
