The Good
It's the weekend. Time to regroup and regroove.

The Bad
My car went to the dealer for routine maintenance this morning. The gentleman quoted $239 to me for the whole shebang, which is nice, because I was expecting closer to $400. Then an hour later, he called me to tell me my rear breaks are nearly gone - another $250. He then informed me that my front tie rod ends should be replaced - another $560.

The breaks are imperative; they must be replaced today. The tie rod ends are not necessary at this moment, but should be handled soon because in the future they will deteriorate completely and the car will be unsafe to drive.

The Academic
This weekend, I'm taking my final for the TESOL course. After this, I'll be certified to teach English to speakers of other languages!

I have a case brief due next week that will probably take me the rest of the weekend.

The Geeky
I inherited the Superman movie set from my BFF! She received them as a gift several years ago and doesn't want them, so when she saw me drooling over them, she let me have them. :D :D :D

I also inherited a Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual from her. She said she got it for like a buck from a garage sale last year and forgot to give it to me. HAHA!

STAR TREK XI COMES OUT ON DVD NEXT WEEK. *GRABBY HANDS*

I don't seem to have much to say, these days. I guess I do, but for some reason I feel like posting's not necessary.

  • Saturday
[info]tweege and I went all the way out to Nuevo (about 60 miles) to see our friend Darin. LJ friends from circa 2004 may recall I got to know a guy in a local band whose day job is owning a dairy farm. It's been five years since I got to know this guy and Teege and I have always seen him when we all go to the same shows. We've never really just "hung out" with the exception of the time we met him to see V for Vendetta when it was in theaters.

Anyway, midterms are over and the final crunch of "oh crap the semester is over in just four weeks!" is still about a week away, so I decided a trip out to Darin's farm was a great way to waste time.

We arrived, and Teege's first statement was "How do you live out here? Where are your neighbors?!" Darin looked to me for the same reaction, but I grew up in small suburbs and have spent time in Wyoming with my grandparents (ain't no place as sparse and desolate as that there Wyomin', folks, and don't never let no one tell you differ'nt), so I was totally unfazed.

We started the day with a tour of his house (which looks small from the outside, but is actually fucking huge from the inside), then a tour of the farm (me riding on the back of a quad, Teege riding on the front, sometimes there was also a dog or two).

There are 2,000 cows, and on this day, two calves. Four cows were sick and we got to meet the veterinarian when he came to check them out. The milking shed is mindblowing. Two guys (on this day only one) basically cycle the cows through thirty-two stalls, hooking each one up to the sucker-thingies, which go to town on these cows' teets. I'm not kidding.

At one point Darin showed Teege and me how to milk a cow by hand. It was weird!

From there we went back to the house and had some dinner and talked for a few hours and then watched Once, which all of you need to watch right this minute. Don't question me on this, okay?

When the movie was over, we had to leave, because it was Darin's bedtime and besides Teege and I had a nice, long drive ahead of us. Jim, Darin's bassist, popped by at the last minute and said something that we misheard. As he was driving away, he called something from his car that was probably "See y'all!" but sounded a lot like "Skeeballs!" We decided to keep it. XD

So Saturday was amazing and Teege and I decided we need to visit Darin on his farm more often. :]

  • Sunday
On this day, I went to the Orange Quilt Bee with my mom to spend some much-needed crafty time with my crafty friends. I managed to finish cutting the tiny pieces for a quilt I began in January 2008, so let's all cross our fingers I can get it finished (all the way up to the binding) by the end of 2010. LOL

After the OQB, my parents and I went to El Torito with my sister and her boyfriend. The occassion was technically his birthday, but apparently my parents would like to take them out now and then as opposed to having them over for dinner because - let's face it - sometimes it's just really nice to go out and eat food you don't normally cook and let someone else deal with the cleaning. *beams at logic*

After dinner, I went to Fullerton to pick up P&T (read: Pat and Teege, aka BFF and her BF who is pretty much my brother without the blood relation), and also their dog, Pocket, and head down the street to a park to see our friend's softball game. I don't know what the final score was, but from what I could tell, our friend's team lost rather spectacularly. Pocket was so well-behaved! He even sat on the bleachers the whole time. Good dog!

After the game, we went to the Slidebar in downtown Fullerton (DTF), the only place that was open after 10:00pm on a Sunday night. We put some money in the jukebox, played some awesome music, and enjoyed some french fries and conversation.

All in all, the best way to end an awesome weekend. :)

  • Today
I was boring. I was supposed to have a study group, but no one from school bothered to tell me that they all met yesterday and therefore didn't feel like meeting today. I didn't learn about this until well into the afternoon. Apparently they each thought one of the others would let me know. LOL. It happens!

I did homework, played The Sims 3, did some more homework, organized my notes in all four classes, read my TESOL chapter, did some more homework, played some more Sims, read some fanfic,
and now I'm going to bed

Night, y'all! Skeeballs!!

  1. HALLOWEEN!
It happened. It was fabulous. I have the pictures to prove it.
    <-- is link
    Hell yeah. :)

  2. Let's talk for a moment about how absulutely amazing the Dallas Cowboys are.
Last night, one of my friends, while in the company of more than one Dallas fan (he was drunk, and that's why we didn't beat him up), said, "A little bird just came to me and told me Seattle's gonna whip Dallas tomorrow." We told him he was wrong, and Dallas hasn't made liars of us yet! Miles Austin's touchdown with 2:44 left in the 3rd followed by Patrick Crayton's 82-yard return on a punt AKA TOUCHDOWN just over a minute later? THAT'S MY TEAM! :D

Sadly, the game isn't aired on tv in my area, so I have to resort to eyeballing the details on nfl.com/...seahawks@cowboys, which is actually not that bad.

  3. Can someone tell me where I can find a NEWS Live Diamond torrent? I can't find one anywhere and I'd rather not have all those separate files from the Hachi uploads if I can avoid it. If I had the money, I'd be buying the dvd. :(

I thought I had more to say. I'm tuckered out! Nap time!! (then homework!)

Been over a week since I posted. Not much has happened aside from school (midterms are FINALLY OVER!) and a little drama last night that I cried out in a dirty bathroom and then got over with a really aggressive game of darts. See? All better! :D

So, my last entry of any substance was like a week ago (okay, longer than that) and even though I've written twice since then, they were only drive-by picspams, and even then, I failed at that Week in the Life photomeme after Day 1. The moral of the story is this: midterms suck.

more school babble )

By the by, California, 2009 is almost over. Do we have our budget for this year drawn up yet? We don't? Big surprise. My state, were it a country, would have the 7th highest Gross Domestic Product in the world. Instead of being awesome, it is not only overdrawing its bank account, it is not even balancing its checkbook. :(

So, anyway. List! In no particular order, nevermind the numbers:

  1. Obviously, I'm lacking in spare time. The fall drama season is in full swing, and I'm watching (the operative phrase is actually "downloading to watch at a later date") My Girl, ROMES, Ohitorisama, Tokyo Dogs, Bocho Mania, and 0 Goshitsu no Kyaku. It remains to be seen which I will decide to watch to the end. Last season I started out with four on my list and after the second week had narrowed it down to only two.

  2. Okcupid Boy text messaged me a few more times after that last fiasco (of which all journal evidence has been deleted, thanks) and I responded in the interest of politeness. I keep meaning to get onto okcupid and send him a proper message about "you're busy and I'm busy and it's not fair to either of us to keep trying to make this work," but I haven't found the time to do that.

Another boy that I was texting for a couple of weeks has dropped off the radar. I responded to all of his text messages, but haven't found time to reply to his last message on okcupid, and I think he took that to mean I wasn't interested any longer. That sucks cos he lives just a few miles away and goes to the same school as me, so while I'm busy, meeting him would not have been inconvenient.

A third boy, who I had been talking to about the same time I met the first one, keeps sending me little messages on okcupid, even though he knows fully well I'm busy, and even though I haven't had time to reply to the last two he sent. I think that's adorable, because they're just little one-liners like "I hope school hasn't eaten you alive." and "Hey, how are you? I hope your week went well. Have a good weekend!" The crappy part is that he lives in Hollywood which is just too far away. I can't maintain a friendship beyond Fullerton (where I go to school) these days, so Hollywood is definitely out of the question.

In addition to all of this, I'm actually getting really sick of men. I've never dated a girl before, even though I came close last Spring. I think I'd like to. I live in one of the gayest cities in the world. I've obviously got some soul-searching to do so I can figure out what I want.

So basically, I'm calling it quits on the dating game, again.

  3. There's not going to be a Christmas this year. My parents and I have agreed upon the following thing: Santa Claus will not spend more than $25 on any single person this season. I basically told my mom I wanted my Pearl Jam shirt, the one with the stick figure on it, replaced. The one I have is fifteen years old and needs to be retired, and Hot Topic just started carrying the design. It's a $20 shirtIt's on clearance, and that's all I want for Christmas.

(actually, my list is much longer, but the other items are either beyond Santa's budget or small enough I can manage them for myself.)

  4. My life is so boring. I only get out of the house to go to school, go to a study group, and nanny. I swear, if my best friend didn't live like two blocks from school, and if she weren't my nanny-charge's mom, I'd never be able to see her. It's so great, too, when she says, "come over!" and I'm just at school in the library and so desperate for some fresh air.

[info]tweege, I love you. Thanks for being my BFF! <3

  5. The Angels beat the Yankees tonight! Now the series is 3-2 with the Yankees ahead, but all the Angels need to do is win the next two games to get to the World Series. I believe they can do it. The next game is Saturday. If they win that, the deciding game is on Sunday, and whoever wins that game goes to play the Phillies in the Series.

  6. Coffee is, like, the most amazing thing ever.

  7. I double-booked myself for Halloween. :( I never double-book myself! I'm so disappointed in me!

Okay, this got out of hand. I have a study group at 8:00am in the morning. Bedtime for meeee~

PS: one of these days I'm going to respond to comments, too. I haven't been able to since... *checks inbox* ...September 30. DDD:

The final syllabi revision came back today. Steve says he "intends to not have to change this again."

Midterms won't be over for another 14 days. T__T

Starting tomorrow...
10/15: PLEG 116 MS Word test; PLEG 214 midterm ch 1-7
10/19: PLEG 104 HW#2 due
10/21: PLEG 101 midterm ch 1-8; PLEG 104 quiz ch 7-8
10/27: PLEG 116 MS Excel test
10/28: PLEG 101 LR# 4-5 due; PLEG 104 midterm ch 1-8, HW#3 due
11/04: PLEG 101 LR#6-12 due
11/11: PLEG 101 LR#13-18 due, HW#4 due; PLEG 104 quiz ch 9-10, HW#4 due
11/12: PLEG 214 quiz ch 8-10

As you can see, even after midterms, the madness doesn't end, and I didn't go so far as to put the rest of November or the beginning of December on there. I don't want to induce a panic attack, right?

That list is kind of insane. Somewhere in that 11/11 mess of PLEG 101 and PLEG 104 homework and quizzing, I need to study for and take my TESOL final online. I'm really hoping that doing the bare minimum is going to earn me a certificate from that program, because I can't afford to do much else.

I have a test in the morning and midterm tomorrow night and I haven't studied a lick. I've been too busy doing homework in my other classes. Who knew paralegal classes would be so darn research-heavy? I'm beginning to realize there's no way I'm going to finish this program in two semesters. If going full-time with the intro classes is driving me this insane, what happens when I get to the core electives? O__O I'm probably going to be a part-time student out of necessity next semester. :(

Today, I went to school from 9:00am-11:50am.
I picked the boys up from school at 12:30pm
and had set them down in front of a movie by 1:00pm.
I did homework on my laptop at the kitchen table until their moms came home at 3:00pm.
I packed my stuff and got home by 3:30pm, at which time I came to my desk in my bedroom and unpacked to resume doing homework.
I didn't stop until 9:00pm, when I went downstairs to spend a mental vacation with my favorite detectives (Law and Order SVU).
At 10:00pm I came back upstairs to spend another hour on homework, and then
at 11:00pm I decided to talk about it, because
OH MY GOD. This rivals my last semester as an undergrad in the history program.

I SLEEP NOW KTHXBAI

P.S. Safe to say I'm still hiatusing liek woah. I manage to read some and comment occassionally, but can't reply to comments left to my posts/comments. Also, if you see me on AIM, SCOLD ME.

P.P.S. I've been listening to MUTEMATH since yesterday and need you all to enjoy them. Please ignore the fact that this song was on the Twilight soundtrack. The movie may have sucked, but the music does not.

I've spent the last four hours changing channels between TBS and FOX, mostly paying attention to the Angels and checking in on the Cowboys during commercials.

The Angels swept the Red Sox! They're going to the AL Championship Series! (And then the World Series!) ♥♥♥♥♥

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime! Chiefs are still winless in the season! Cowboys are 3-2! ★★★★★

I am a very happy sports fan, today. It was a nice mental vacation, enjoying the games on the HD television in the living room.

Alas, now it's back to the books.

Happy Sunday, all!

I could go on with the weeks after that which include more quizzes and homework but this is really the worst of it because there are *midterms* and those are always terrifying. The above also doesn't mention the online TESOL program, which is halfway finished and continues to throw off my paralegal groove. *beware the groooooove!*

I am currently kicking myself in the ass for leaving the PLEG 104 homework assignment that is due on Wednesday until just now. It's so MASSIVE. Lesson learned! I'll never do that again.

Suffice it to say: self-imposed hiatus! Still reachable by cell, email, LJ comment or messaging (since those come to my inbox anyway), facebook, myspace, AIM (very rarely, as is the norm these days), postal service, and carrier pigeon.

Behave while I'm gone and don't make a mess or anything. Be back soon!

I'd like to bring your attention for just a moment to someone I've mentioned before: Jon Davidson.

I've mentioned he's a fantastic singer, and gave you links to the proof (his myspace has music for streaming, if you're curious). I've mentioned that he's a fantastic looker, and let's be honest, dude is actually pretty fucking hot. I've mentioned that he's a fantastic blogger, and I can't stress this one enough, so I'm doing a copypasta on his latest entry, posted to his myspace blog like twenty minutes ago.

"I lost my microphone.

It's an Audix OM7. Nothing special, but it's a pretty good mic. It's Absolut, but not quite Belvedere. Pippen, but not quite Jordan. Dog, but not quite cat. Nonetheless, it's my mic, and I love the way it sounds.

I lost it at a festival in Portland ten days ago. Taken by another band? Perhaps. Why a singer would would want to make out with a black piece of
man-plastic that has been all up on another dude's lips is beyond me. To me, my microphone is like my earwax: meant for my mouth, and my mouth only.

Just for the record, I don't actually eat my earwax. I broke that habit six weeks ago.

In any case, I've been forced to use my backup EV microphone at my last three shows. Making the switch has been like switching from wearing underwear to wearing bubble wrap: it still works, but it's kind of noisy at inopportune times.

I've sent out emails to every staff member at the festival, every sound person, every other band. I've even put up "Missing" signs on area telephone poles, and I roam the streets at night calling its name.

I have a sinking feeling it's not coming home.

My devastating loss, coupled with some other pressing matters involving aspects of my career that are beyond my control, was weighing on my mind as I checked my email yesterday afternoon. I was bombarded with the news of a second, 6.8 magnitude earthquake that had just occurred in Padang, in the wake of yesterday's first quake. 467 people are dead, and thousands are trapped beyond fallen buildings. Come on, world, I'm trying to have a pity party here. Who invited Indonesia?

I have to be honest: nothing puts a missing microphone on the back burner like the tale of a mother desperately searching for her missing 12-year-old daughter, using her bare hands to pull apart the wreckage. The woman told TVOne that her daughter's face and voice kept appearing in her mind constantly throughout the night.

A couple months ago, I wrote a song called "Sound Of Your Voice" for my next album. I've lost way too many people that I love, including an uncle to cancer a couple years ago and a college friend to suicide last year. My fondest memories of the loved ones I've lost often involve the sound of their voices: they way they laughed, the way they said their trademark jokes and phrases.

A line from the song's first verse: "Silence is waiting, reiterating that life and loss are one."

Somewhere in between the story of the earthquakes and that of Tuesday's killer tsunami, I stopped thinking about my microphone. Sure, I'm bummed about it. But in the grand scheme, it's a pretty nominal thing to lose.

It's as if the server forgot the artichokes on my pizza. Do I love artichokes? You bet. Will I stand up on a table in the middle of the restaurant, rip my shirt, and fling soup spoons at the server? Definitely. Will I drench a hapless onlooker at a nearby table with Cabernet because THEY got artichokes? Of course!

Did that really happen? I probably shouldn't say.

But in the end, artichokes or no artichokes, I can still sleep at night. Even if it's in jail.

Everyone I know has misplaced something at least once. I have a friend who lost a shoe in Vegas somehow, and another who to this day doesn't know where two of her teeth are. I realized recently that I've been keeping the spare set of keys for my car in my car. Not my best work.

And let's not even get into those parents who keep their otherwise healthy children on leashes.

It's tempting to regard trivial loss as more than it is. Microphones can be replaced. Children cannot.

Some questions don't have easy answers.

Reach out to someone who has lost someone or something important. Spend some time with them. Say a prayer, give a hug. Ask them what you can do to help them make it through.

In the midst of loss, help someone gain a lasting friendship."

I've been spending my week feeling sorry for myself for a few really trivial reasons. I had no idea that any natural disaster had taken place aside from the storm that flooded the Phillipines. I feel like a really shitty human being, right now.

Everyone, let's rise above the meaningless things that clutter our lives! Spread some love! Make life better for a stranger in some way! Tomorrow, the world you know could change forever!

"The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present."

Oh heck, my life has been so mundane lately. I don't have half the exciting stuff to talk about that I see on my f-list these days.

+ the school week is over after tonight's Contract Law class.
- I slept terribly last night and don't want to go to class. I spent the last three hours in the library catching up on reading and outlining the chapters.
+ today is my brother-from-another-mother's birthday. Tomorrow is my sister's birthday. Celebrations will commence in the future, sometime after Sam has gotten past wedding madness and also her honeymoon, so that we can host a proper party in honor of the lucky birthday-ers.
- my god has my mood been all over the place this week. My dad's and one of my professor's, too.
- I missed all three of the Rival Sons shows. Their next show is this weekend in Las Vegas. After that, it's one month till they open for Alice Cooper [!!!] in Hollywood. I doubt I'll make it to/be able to afford either of those shows. :(

Tonight after class I'm heading to Sam's for some wedding prep. Tomorrow is a lazy day for me, but busy for the wedding party. The wedding is Saturday! Ahh! :D

I'm finishing up Buzzer Beat and Ninkyo Helper. I'm enjoying Criminal Minds when I catch it on TV. I'm listening to Pearl Jam's new cd, Backspacer, though atm my ipod is playing Kuroki Meisa because I needed something to wake me up. I have coffee, too.

Anyway, I'll probably be out of touch till after the wedding. I'll take pics!

I'm updating LJ from my phone cos my last class got out early and I'm already at the boys' school but have a half hour before they get out. My car has A/C and music, so i'm comfy!

Weekend in Temecula was so much fun! Six grown women in a sleepover situation will always revert to the hijinks of their youth. We played "I never" and told our deepest, dirtiest secrets. We did go to bed at 1am, but that's because we're actually OLD LADIES. lol

I still have a cold.

The Giants gave the Cowboys a run for their money last night. Cowboys were up 31-30 and in the last 4 seconds of the game, the Giants made a field goal that put them ahead and they won. Romo was off his game last night. His passes were wild. Also, the Giants had some really awesome tricks. I mean, in the name of my love for the game, team associations aside, I have to give them props. They really play well!

Anyway. TESOL is moving along. Paralegal is in week six? We're about a third of the way thought the semester. I'm plodding along.

Not much else to report.

Rival Sons are playing The Viper Room tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday. I might get out there tomorrow night? It depends on how I feel and my monetary situation.

Have a great Monday, everyone! ♥

  • Feeling better today! I have a cough and my voice is going in and out, but the hed-asplode feeling is mostly gone and breathing through my nose isn't very challenging.

  • Tomorrow is Day One of The Fabulous Bachelorette Party! We leave at 8am to drive to Temecula for a weekend of relaxation and friendship. I CAN'T WAIT. :D

  • Went shopping at Torrid the other day to get my outfit for the wedding next weekend. I settled on this top with this belt and this skirt. I feel like a sexy librarian when I wear them all together!

  • While I was in the store, I grabbed this jacket, because it's PLAID and has A HOOD and sdjlfgsd I'm sorry... GENERATION X FORVER! I don't even care that it cost me nearly $70. IT WAS WORTH IT. (and now I'm broke D:)

  • I'm listening to a lot of Japanese music this week. Like, to the exclusion of the rest of my library. I made a "japanese" filter and let my iTunes DJ do all the work. I also just added a bunch of jpop and jrock songs to my phone as potential ringers. ^_^

  • Lastly, I will throw a shameless shout out to my icon, which is completely unrelated to anything in this entry. I LOVE ZIVA A LOT. She is a fierce woman and adorable to boot. <3 <3 <3

I have a cold. It reminds me of this one fic [info]pinkpapyrus wrote once where a couple of Eitos got sick and she went into such delightful detail about what happens when you roll over in bed. It was the greatest. I feel like I'm not alone when I'm sick and I recall that story. <3

Being sick, I think I'm going to miss school tomorrow. We'll see how I feel. I'd hate to miss class, but dlfkhsdlf do my classmates want this? Probably not. I'm past all my quiz and homework obligations for the week anyway, and could use the rest before the WILD WILD BACHELORETTE PARTY this weekend. (In actuality this bachelorette party will be less wild and more kickback, but traditionally such things involve galavanting and wildness, so I have to at least give the impression of a weekend of sin and debauchery, right?)

My テゴマス tote bag came in the mail last week while I was busy housesitting!

I love all the little monsters on the back side. Yay for テゴマス! It seems like they had some successful concerts. I'm happy for them. :)

Um, other than all of this, my life is the same-old same-old. I'm boring!
- I'm still in school working on Paralegal and TESOL certificates
- I'm still nannying in the afternoons
- I'm still too busy to catch up on dramas. I haven't gotten past ep. 8 of Ninkyo Helper and ep. 6 of Buzzer Beat, and I'm so glad I dropped Orthros no Inu and whatever that other one was that started with a K(!?!?)

The new Muse album, The Resistance, came out yesterday. Wooo! It's pretty decent. I'm holding out for the new Pearl Jam album, Backspacer, which comes out apparently on SUNDAY next week, and not Tuesday. Leave it to Pearl Jam to break away from the norm on something as mundane as the release date! ^_^

The Angels are in the midst of a series against the Red Sox right now. They always fall when playing against the Red Sox. The Angels have two problems: (1) They lose their game near the end of the season and (2) the Boston Red Sox. I believe they can get to the playoffs; they do that almost every year, but often they're the Wild Card team, and it's after a full season of being the best team in the West and losing their standing in the last month of regular games. Come on Angels! You can do it!

I would cry about the state of my baseball team, but football started this past weekend and the Dallas Cowboys pounded Tampa Bay in short order. There was an 80-yard touchdown! It made me so happy! I couldn't find the game on TV, but nfl.com is so awesome now, it's almost the same, only without the cool camera angles. Okay, it's not the same. But if you want the play-by-play version of the game, nfl.com is the place to be.

My face huuuurts. I hate being sick! I'm going to count some sheep and hope this cold doesn't keep me up all night. :(

ETA: OH SNAP HOTAKKY'S AT IT AGAIN. I wish hotakky were a comm so I could JOIN but not WATCH and therefore not have the whole FRONT PAGE of my f-list taken up by jpop and jrock uploads in VIETNAMESE. I mean, I'm greatful for the links, and heaven knows I take advantage, but lhfldsgfsdl SPAMMMMM *cries*

I just got spoiled for Buzzer Beat from AN ICON POST.
Seriously, dslfhdsljv, WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN.
I haven't watched past episode 6 and now I feel like there's no point to watching the rest of the show. DDDD:

In other news, Rival Sons played right here in Fullerton last night! It was fantastic. Those guys never disappoint!

After Rival Sons finished their set, Tommy Lee (yes, of Mötley Crüe and Pamela Anderson fame) did some stuff on a turntable. I didn't stick around for that. I worked too hard at the gym on Friday (dlfjsd this elliptical machine wasn't reading my heartrate and it kept increasing the resistance and I thought I'd challenge myself but ohhhh god, the pain), so I was done standing for the night. I really wanted to see Rocco DeLuca, too, but an old Henry's coworker says he plays that venue from time to time, so I can always catch him later if I feel like it.

It's Sunday! Time to do homework.

PART THE FIRST
What is going on in my life?!
Not much in the way of excitement. Three weeks ago, I was bored off my ass. Then, school started and my mornings were filled with academics. Then, two days ago, my godson and his cousin started kindergarten, and I'm their nanny in the afternoons. Suddenly my days are filled with things to do! I love it. This is the way I like to live my life. School and work. Why can't I just be a student for the rest of my life? LOL

So yesterday I got all the way to school and into a parking spot before checking my professional (ie: teachers, classmates, and prospective employers) email account, and it turns out that at about 6:40am (long before I left the house), Carrie, my Computers in the Law Office professor, had emailed us all saying she's sick and class was cancelled. I ended up killing some time in Target (got the cutest purse and shoes and some games for the boys omg), then went to my BFF's house to study for a few hours before picking the boys up from school.

This morning, I was walking to the front door to go to school when I thought, "might as well check the professional email before leaving, today," and sure enough, Steve, the prof for my Intro to Paralegal Studies and Legal Research classes, which go back-to-back on Mondays and Wednesdays, had to cancel class this morning for reasons he didn't specify.

He mentioned on Monday that he's really close to the fire in LA, so I suspect it's come too close to his house for comfort. I really hope his house isn't damaged by the fire! I know what it's like to have to stand in the middle of your entire material existence and say, "Whatever isn't in the car will just have to burn," before walking out the door. It's so surreal and so frightening. :(

So today I am at home for the morning and have some time to kill before going to pick the boys up from school, therefore, have some cut-tags!

PART THE SECOND
picspam! cakes and siblings and children, oh my! )

PART THE THIRD
This meme is from almost a month ago, but I would much rather just be really late to the party than forget to do this altogether.

Comment saying you want to play and I'll LJ stalk you to find three fandoms you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!

❶ What got you into this fandom in the first place?
❷ Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
❸ Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc?
❹ Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
❺ Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

You know how you don't even realize how much you need something until you have it?

I have the most amazing extended family in the world. My best friend and my brother, neither of which are relate by blood, and both of whom I really love more than life. I haven't seen them in two weeks, and I didn't realize I was depressed for the sole reason that I hadn't seen them in two weeks until now.

Patrick

Never leave me. I love you guys. Let's always be an inseperable trio.

I hope everyone can have friendships as great as mine.

I'm the luckiest girl alive, to have friends like them

AND LIKE ALL OF YOU

I love you guys!!

Who wants to be my hero and educate me?

I want to learn about V6. Emphasis on Coming Century.
(also, not to sound bitchy, but I don't care about OTPs; I just want to learn about the members and collect music and PVs and maybe a concert or two)

I feel I'm way overdue on this. (-_-*)

Links to another user's info post or upload post are always welcome!
